Man Booker Prize longlist announced
The 13-strong longlist for the Man Booker Prize 2010 was announced today.
Nominees for the prize, which is considered the leading literary award in the
English-speaking world, include David Mitchell, Damon Gulgat and Rose
Tremain - who have all been shortlisted before - and Peter Carey, who has
previously won the award twice. The Independent's columnist Howard
Jacobson also picks up his second longlist nomination.

London, July 27 (UPI) -- Peter Carey's "Parrot and Olivier in America" and Emma Donoghue's "Room" were among the nominees announced in London for the 2010 Man Booker Prize.
The long list for the literary award was unveiled Tuesday.

This morning Booker Prize judges announced the 13-author " Man Booker Dozen " longlist for the 2009 edition of the £50,000 literary prize.
The judges sorted through 138 books to pick the prestigious longlist. The final list includes: Peter Carey for Parrot and Oliver in America and David Mitchell for The Thousand Autumns of Zacob de Zoet .
